Brenna Rothman
FACULTY RESEARCH ASSISTANT
I am a Faculty Research Assistant in the lab. Before transitioning into my current role, I worked in the lab as a seasonal technician, a SURE summer scholar, and a volunteer. Some of my duties as an FRA include managing a mussel mortality-focused project, mentoring undergraduates, and working closely with Audrey to plan and conduct fieldwork over the summer. When I was an undergraduate (B.S. in Biology from Oregon State), I had the opportunity to do a summer research project through the SURE program to study the reproductive timing of the critically endangered sunflower sea star. My time in this lab has truly cemented my love for studying nearshore communities, and I'm lucky to be a part of such an important science in a lab filled with people who are near and dear to my heart. For any questions, comments, concerns, or need someone to nerd out about the intertidal with, my email is [email protected]/[email protected] (starting September 2024).

RYAN GRANT
SEASONAL LAB TECHNICIAN
I am currently a Seasonal Lab Technician. I graduated from OSU in 2023 with a degree in Zoology. I have not always known I wanted to work in science, so I started college seeking a computer engineering degree. I quickly decided that was not for me, concluding desk work is boring. I went to South Africa to volunteer for a marine eco-tourism company and loved every bit of it. I decided marine biology would be my career and have ended up here 5 years later.

KAITLIN BARRY
SEASONAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT
I graduated with my bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara in 2020 and since then I have been doing different field work jobs all over Oregon. I have worked as an observer on commercial fishing boats, built beaver dam analogs, done endangered marbled murrelet surveys, worked for USGS doing amphibian and spotted frog surveys. and worked for ODFW doing salmon spawning ground surveys. I have always wanted to focus my career on marine ecology and couldn't have been more excited to get a position with the PISCO lab to start that journey. I have really been enjoying getting to know the species and complexities of the Oregon coast intertidal and want to continue working in this field to help understand the intricate dynamics of this ecosystem and how the changing climate is playing a role. In my free time I enjoy making ceramics, surfing, and laying in the sunshine with my pittie named Pam.
